Hi, this is my first newsletter I’ve ever written so I don’t really know how it goes but here are a couple of photos I've taken in the past few weeks.
Angelina is a plastics patient that just completed her first surgery. 5 minute before I took this photo her friend leaned over and kissed her, and thus became the cutest moment of this field service so far.
One of our patients was overwhelmed by gratitude for his surgery that he started crying out of happiness. Here are the nurses around him who came to comfort him.
Dr. Marcin during one of my shoots in the Operating room. Legend.
Anaesthetist Assistant switching the blood bags in the OR. Honestly pretty insane to conduct an entire photoshoot with a patients face sliced wide open in the background.
Our video we filmed last year for Marie Elisa is out!!
Prayer:
There was a 1.5 year old double cataract patient our team of 4 met last year. His mother was so caring and kind, but also desperate for a solution of her only son. He was so malnourished they said he would have died very soon without our feeding program. He fattened up over the next few months and they held a medical council with all the medical practitioners involved to decide whether he was healthy enough to get the surgery and he just barely made the vote. He got the surgery and it was one of the most euphoric celebrations our team had to be able to celebrate with the mother after so many months of waiting.
Recently he got very sick and in just 3 days and his mom called our team to walk her through the hospital appointments. Despite all our efforts he died. It was incredibly tragic when our team went to the funeral (I wasn’t in country at the time but the rest of my team went). It was incredibly tragic, we must have collectively spent over 200 hours filming their family so prayers for the mother would be greatly appreciated.
